OUR PRIVATE MOROCCO TOURS

Our private Morocco tours are run by Numidian Morocco Tours, a local operator from Boumalne Dades founded in 2010 by Mohamed Ben-Amer, an official guide with the Moroccan license GN736

A private tour means one simple thing the vehicle, the guide and the plan belong to your group and to nobody else. We are not a booking website. We live on the road between the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara, and we drive it every week.

This page is not another list of famous places. You can find that in any guidebook. Here we explain how a private trip with us really works, which questions to ask any company before you pay, how long the driving days are, and what our guests from the United States, Canada and Europe usually change in their plans. If you read it to the end, you will know more about booking a trip in Morocco than most first time visitors.

How a Private Trip with us works

Booking a trip from another continent can feel risky when you do not know who is on the other side of the screen. So here is exactly what happens, in the order it happens.

  • You write to us. Tell us your dates, how many people travel, the city where your flight lands and what you want to see. A rough idea is enough to start.
  • We send you a real route. Mohamed or a member of our team answers with a day by day plan and a price for your group.
  • You can ask for changes as many times as you need.
  • You confirm. When the plan is right for you, you book following our payment and cancellation policy, which you can read before you pay anything.
  • We meet you. On the first day, your driver or guide waits for you at the airport or at the door of your hotel.
  • The plan can still move. If you want one more night in a place or one stop less, we adjust it on the road. That freedom is the main reason people choose private Morocco tours instead of a group bus.
  • We take you back. On the last day, your driver or your private guide in Morocco takes you to your airport or hotel. It does not need to be the same city where you started.

Questions to ask before you book any Tour in Morocco

Many companies sell trips in Morocco, and from far away they all look the same. These six questions help you see the difference quickly. We add our own honest answer to each one, so you can compare.

  • Am I booking with the operator or with a reseller? Some websites only sell the trip and pass it to a local company. With us, the people who answer your email are the same people who plan the route and drive it.
  • Who owns the vehicle? We use our own fleet. Most private groups travel in a Mercedes Vito with 7 seats, larger groups in a minivan for up to 14 people, and routes with desert tracks in a 4×4.
  • Is the guide licensed? A real private guide in Morocco can show you an official license. Mohamed has one. A driver is not always a licensed guide, and a serious company tells you clearly who is who.
  • Is the price for my group or per person? Always ask. A private price depends on the number of travelers, the vehicle, the level of the hotels and the number of days.
  • Which desert camp, and what kind of tent? In Merzouga there are simple Berber tents and camps with a private bathroom inside the tent. Ask which one is in your price.
  • What happens if I want to change the plan? On a group tour the answer is usually no. On our private Morocco tours we change it whenever the road and the hotels allow it.

Morocco Private Tours and the real road to the desert

Many people imagine the Sahara as a short trip from Marrakech. In reality, the dunes of Merzouga are about 560 kilometers away, and the road crosses the High Atlas. With the usual stops, our team does it in two days. The first day ends in the Dades valley, around 10 hours after leaving Marrakech, and that is exactly where we live, in Boumalne Dades.

This detail matters more than it seems. On our desert routes, the night in the middle of the route is not a random hotel by the road. It is our home town, and most of our guides grew up in this region, so they know the guesthouses, the viewpoints and the short walks in the Dades and Todra gorges. With a private Morocco tour plan you can also break the drive into shorter days, for example with an extra night in the gorges, if long hours in the car are not for you.

Merzouga or Erg Chegaga on Morocco Private Desert Tours

Merzouga, with the Erg Chebbi dunes, is the classic choice and the easiest to reach by paved road from Marrakech, Fes or Tangier. Erg Chegaga, south of Zagora, is more remote and quieter, and the last part of the road is a track for 4×4 vehicles. Our 4 day Erg Chegaga route from Marrakech is a good option if you prefer fewer people around you.

Whatever desert you choose, the timing is yours. On a private Sahara trip you can leave early, stop for photos when the light is good and arrive at the camp before sunset. If you are not sure where to start, we compared both routes with real travel times in Marrakech or Fes: where to start your desert tour. For the cities and places to add before or after the dunes, read our article Best Destinations for a Private Morocco Tour.

Standard or Luxury Private Morocco Tours:

How to Choose?

Private does not mean expensive by default, and it does not always mean luxury. The level of a tailor made trip in Morocco depends on the hotels and the desert camp you choose. On a standard route we book traditional riads and small family hotels. On a luxury route we choose more exclusive riads and a desert camp with a private bathroom inside the tent.

The size of your group also changes the price per person, because the cost of the vehicle and the guide is shared between more people. You can see how this works in the real prices we publish for our desert tours from Fes. For any other route, ask us and we send you a written price for your group.

You can also add extras that a group tour rarely allows:

  1. A hot air balloon flight over the countryside near Marrakech.
  2. A traditional hammam after a long driving day.
  3. A quad bike ride in the dunes of Merzouga.
  4. A cooking session with a local family, or a visit to a pottery or carpet workshop.
  5. An extra night in the Sahara, a simple change on Morocco private desert tours because the vehicle and the team stay with you.

Planning Your Trip from the USA, Canada or Europe

Most of our private guests come from far away and plan everything by email or WhatsApp. The practical side, like flights, visas, plugs and jet lag, is on our page about traveling to Morocco from the USA, Canada and Europe. Here we only add four tips that make a real difference on private Morocco tours:

  1. Send us your flight times, not only the dates. On a Private Mprpccp Tour, the first and the last day are built around them.
  2. Tell us who travels: ages, any walking limits, and if someone gets car sick on mountain roads. This changes how we split the driving days.
  3. Say what you do not want. A long list of things to see is useful, but a rule like no more than five hours in the car per day helps us even more.
  4. Tell us if the desert is the main goal. Some guests want Morocco private desert tours with two nights in the dunes and short city visits, and others want the opposite.

Your Private Guide in Morocco and the People Behind

On a group tour, the guide talks to a full bus at once. On a private trip, the guide talks to you. That changes the questions you ask, the pace of each visit and the places you end up seeing.

Our team is small, so you will often read the same names in our reviews. In a Google review from October 2026, one guest wrote about Aziz, our driver, who found them good local restaurants and helped them get fair prices in small shops. For many travelers, that kind of help is worth more than any monument.

Before you book, we always explain the difference between a guide and a driver. On our guided Private Morocco Tours, a private guide in Morocco from our team stays with your group. If you only want transport and prefer to visit on your own, our car rental with driver service gives you the vehicle and a driver, without a guide. Both are private. They are just two different ways to travel.

Guides who speak your language

Our guides speak English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Berber. Travelers from Quebec, France or Belgium often ask for French, and travelers from Spain ask for Spanish. Write the language you prefer in your first message, and we plan the team around it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most routes go to Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes, which you can reach from Marrakech, Fes, Casablanca or Tangier. We also run a 4 day route from Marrakech to Erg Chegaga, a more remote desert near Zagora with a final track for 4×4 vehicles.

Marrakech to Merzouga is about 560 kilometers. With the usual stops, we do it in two days, with a night in the Dades valley. The first day takes around 10 hours and the second day around 6 to 7 hours, including visits and lunch.

Yes. Some of our routes are one way, for example 4 days from Marrakech to Fes or 15 days from Casablanca to Marrakech. If your flight home leaves from another city, we finish the route there.

It depends on the service you choose. On our guided private routes, a guide from our team travels with your group. With the car rental with driver service you have a professional driver but no guide, and you visit the cities on your own.

Make a short list of the places that interest you, for example Marrakech, Fes, Chefchaouen, the Sahara, Casablanca or Ouarzazate. Then send us the places you liked, and we turn them into a route with real driving times.

TELL US HOW YOU WANT TO TRAVEL

Write to us with your dates, the number of travelers and the city where you land. You will get an answer from the same small team that will meet you on the first day, with a real route and a written price. If the Sahara is your main goal, ask us to compare Morocco private desert tours from Marrakech and from Fes for your dates. We have worked this way with every group since 2010.

Not sure yet? Read more about Mohamed, who plans every route and chooses the private guide in Morocco for each group, and the local team behind Numidian Morocco Tours, or send us your questions and we will help you decide, with no pressure to book.
